Latif Raiyan Rahman graduated from DMC in 2014 (obtaining Honours in multiple subjects and securing 10th, 4th and 3rd place in the Professional Exams under University of Dhaka), completed his internship from Dhaka Medical College Hospital in 2015 and trained in DMCH till 2017, having obtained his MRCP degree in July 2017.


He served as Specialist (Registrar) in Neurology at Square Hospitals Limited in 2018 and started working in NHS from November 2018.

In NHS, he has first worked as an MTI fellow under RCPE in Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and subsequently as a Higher Specialty Trainee in Acute Internal Medicine and General Internal Medicine at the East Midlands Deanery, NHS England, predominantly being based at University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL).

He CCT’d in 2024 and is currently working as an Acute Medicine Consultant at University Hospitals of Leicester.

Beside his clinical work, he has been involved in a few leadership, management and medical education related roles.

He has served as an RCP Associate College Tutor at UHL from 2019 to 2022, as a takeAIM fellow under the Society for Acute Medicine UK from 2020 to 2022, as a Chief Registrar at UHL from 2022 to 2024, as a Trainee Representative for Acute Medicine at East Midlands Deanery from 2021 to 2024 as the Regional Trainee Representative for East Midlands at the Royal College of Physicians National Trainee Committee (now known as the Resident Doctor Committee) from 2022 to 2024, and as the national Trainee Representative for Acute Medicine at the Society for Acute Medicine Council UK from 2023 to 2025. He joined as the International Medical Graduate Representative at the Royal College of Physicians NextGen Campaign in 2025.

He is currently working as the Co-Training Programme Director for Differential Attainment at the School of Medicine, East Midlands Deanery, NHS England and as the Clinical Teacher for Undergraduate Medicine at UHL and Leicester Medical School. He is sitting in the Royal College of Physicians NextGen Committee as the IMG representative and as an Ordinary Member at the FAMUS (Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound) national working group.


He has special interests in Point of Care Ultrasound and Echo and is a FAMUS supervisor and FUSIC (Focused Ultrasound in Intensive Care) Heart Mentor. He is the Co-Lead for the Point of Care Ultrasound teaching programme for Acute Medicine Trainees based at East Midlands Deanery and also co-leads the POCUS teaching programme within department of Specialist Medicine, UHL. He has helped design the national FAMUS module on USG assisted Lumbar Puncture and has also helped design the first ever POCUS curriculum in Bangladesh called AMUSE (Acute Medicine Ultrasound and Echo), which is currently the most popular POCUS programme in Bangladesh.

He also has special interests in Medical Education, having completed an MSc in Medical Education from University of Nottingham in 2024. He become an MRCP PACES examiner in He joined as a faculty for the RCP Education Programme in 2025. He has won the Annual Educator Award in UHL in 2023 and 2024. He also won the national John Munro award for excellence in teaching in 2024, awarded by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He has designed and leads a weekend teaching programme on Acute Medicine at UHL. He has helped design the official webpage for IMGs for the Society for Acute Medicine UK and has also helped in co-designing RCP’s official website page for IMGs which is due to be published soon.

He is serving as the International Secretary at the Acute and Critical Care Physicians’ Foundation Bangladesh which is an organisation which works to promote Acute Medicine in Bangladesh. Through this role, he has been involved in a number of initiatives in Bangladesh including:
a. Designing and being the co-course director of the Acute Medicine Long Course, which is the first ever of its kind in Bangladesh. He regularly teaches in that course as well
b. Designing and being the co-course director of the Acute Medicine Short Course, which is the first ever of its kind in Bangladesh. He regularly teaches in that course as well.
c. Helping in co-designing the AMUSE curriculum as mentioned above, where he regularly teaches as well.
d. Forming a strong bridge of network between Bangladesh and other reputed international organisations like Royal College of Physicians and Society for Acute Medicine. This has helped get a number of distinguished international personnel involved with the field of acute medicine in Bangladesh including the RCP President and the Society for Acute Medicine UK President.
e. Designing and being the director of the Obstetric Medicine programme of ACCPFB.
f. Helped organise international CPD accreditation for the various courses organised by ACCPFB, which is likely the first ever time courses organised within Bangladesh has achieved international CPD accreditation.


He has published a textbook on Acute Medicine for doctors in Bangladesh titled Acute Medicine in Ward, 4 editions of which has been published so far. This is the first ever book on Acute Medicine in Bangladesh. He has been the Guest Co-Editor for the Royal College of Physicians Commentary Magazine on two occasions. He has also published a number of articles in peer reviewed pub med cited journals. He is a peer reviewer for the Acute Medicine Journal. He also published the first ever article in Bangladesh talking on the current and future prospect and challenges of Acute Medicine as a specialty in Bangladesh, which was published in the Bangladesh Journal of Medicine.

He has been invited as a speaker to a number of national and international conferences in the UK to talk on Point of Care Ultrasound and Echocardiogram and Leadership. He has also been invited as a judge for posters at national conferences organised by Royal College of Physicians and the Society for Acute Medicine UK.


His biggest happiness in life is to be able to meaningfully connect with Allah and spend time with his family. He holds his father Bazlur Rahman as his biggest role model in life.
