Dr. Fatima Suraiya: Salaried GP – Honeypot Medical Centre & Premier Medical Centre

Dr. Fatima Suraiya completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dhaka Medical College as part of the 62nd batch. Following her graduation, she moved to the United Kingdom after marriage, where she began to build a diverse and enriching career within the NHS.

Her initial exposure to UK healthcare came through her role as an administrative member of staff in an NHS GP practice, where she worked for three years between 2012 and 2015. This early experience gave her a strong understanding of primary care systems, patient coordination, and the administrative aspects of general practice — a foundation that would later prove invaluable in her clinical career.

After the birth of her child, Dr. Suraiya took a short career break to focus on her family. During this period, she returned to Bangladesh, where she worked for a year (2017–2018) in a hospital setting, continuing her clinical development and maintaining her connection to patient care. While there, she completed MRCP Part 1, reflecting her dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. However, through this experience, she discovered a strong passion for holistic and community-based care, which inspired her decision to pursue General Practice as her long-term career path.

Upon returning to the UK, Dr. Suraiya completed her PLAB examinations and obtained full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2019. She then began working as a Trust Senior House Officer (SHO) at Ealing Hospital, where she gained hands-on experience in acute medicine and patient management. She later joined Northwick Park Hospital for another year as a Trust SHO, further broadening her exposure to various medical specialities and enhancing her clinical skills.

After completing the Multi-Speciality Recruitment Assessment (MSRA), Dr. Suraiya commenced her GP Training in 2021. Throughout her training, she demonstrated a strong commitment to clinical excellence and community health improvement. She completed her MRCGP qualification in 2024, marking an important milestone in her professional journey.

As part of her GP training, Dr. Suraiya undertook a Quality Improvement Activity (QIA) focusing on breast screening awareness among both colleagues and patients. She developed and distributed an informative leaflet to encourage participation in breast screening programs and promote early detection — an initiative that reflected her passion for preventive healthcare and patient education.

Currently, Dr. Fatima Suraiya works as a Salaried GP at Honeypot Medical Centre and Premier Medical Centre. She is known for her compassionate approach, thorough clinical care, and dedication to improving patient well-being. Her professional interests include women’s health, preventive medicine, and patient education, and she continues to be deeply involved in community health awareness initiatives.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Suraiya enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in lifelong learning, and contributing to projects that promote health awareness and empowerment within her community.
